    It was a dark and . . . snowy afternoon in Ohio . . .

That’s a lie, it was a cold, dark night in Ohio. April, 1995. Storms threatened and the next day they came. But that was the night when I met Lori Foster for the first time.

Visualize a hotel suite filled with boxes, bags, piles of books, plates of food, packs of soda, lots of women, mostly in long, comfy T-shirts–yes, it was the night before a conference started and final preparations were in progress.

Enter one small, blond person with sparkly blue eyes and a mouth set in a determined line (read, "Okay, enough of this messing around–let’s organize this heap," or something similar)

    Lori Foster had arrived.

Lori Foster about a year before the publication of her first book–not that any of us can imagine that this whirlwind of talent and style was ever unpublished. We have devoured her books ever since.

We old Quills welcome new Quill Lori with a loud chorus of, "We think you’re wonderful!"

We asked Lori to tell us about MURPHY’S LAW, her next single title book, due out in September, 2006 and now you shall be tantalized, teased and tormented:

"ANYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG . . .

Nothing is going to go wrong. Ashley Miles has worked too hard for herindependence to let some Bentley-driving hunk named Quinton Murphy interfere with her plans—or her freedom. Yes, the chemistry is phenomenal. Kind of scary, actually. But that’s it. NO emotional commitments.

    . . . WILL

But he’s SO wonderful—a woman could fall in love . . . How did thathappen? That wasn’t part of the plan! But can she trust him? Really trust him? The man is just so mysterious. There’s only one solution: put it all on the line and see what Quinton does when she tells him how she feels. And hope everything that can go wrong . . . won’t.."

You don’t need more from me.
    Cheers, Stella

Oh, I really cant wait for this book! I have been wanting to know more about Quinton since the first time he was mentioned in Jude's Law. I also loved Ashley's spunk. September cant come soon enough.

Again, welcome Lori, and I'll be soon educated on your books as I've placed my Amazon order... looking forward to Ashley & Quinton's story, too :)

    Hi, Lori,

Nice to "see" you here. I thought I'd have missed something here too, considering I did so at all my "blogging holes" but I guess I at least peeked in every day. Since Monday I've been looking for a definitely saved but now vanished Word file--15 pages or more in length and trying to install my new 3-in-1 printer. Also unsuccessful, at least as far as my most needed function is concerned at the moment: scanning. And I spent more than 3 hours on the phone with technical services. I guess I do need a better computer--whenever I'll manage that.

Lori, you'll notice that I always write a whole blog. I'm living alone and this is where I feel most at home. Nowhere else can I talk about my favorite hobby: reading romances and other types of books with strong romantic subplots.

I'll have to see if I've ever read any of your books. They certainly sound intriguing.

fawlu - For a while lost use.

Hello everyone! I'm still twitterpatted to be here. I don't think the feeling will wear off any time soon. :-D

I was out with two other couples last night. Very dear, dear friends. I love them.
And I so badly wanted to tell them about this blog, but ya know, they don't do "this." They're already confused enough about me being published. LOL. Our boys all wrestled together, and I'm just Lori. Mom to Aaron, Jake and Mason. The whole author persona is a weird thing to the people who have known you well for so long.
And people who aren't avid romance readers and/or don't visit the net regularly, can't quite grasp the idea of a blog or its purpose.
So I kept it to myself and instead we ate great food and talked for hours on end.
I love how I have these different worlds, if that makes any sense.

Fawlu, you'll notice that I write whole blogs, too! We're a fit! :-D
And you know, I was in your situation a few years back. I couldn't get all the various pieces of equipment to play nice together. I sat in the middle of my office floor, piles everywhere (we'd recently moved in) and I badly wanted to throw my scanner out the window. Just pitch it.
I refrained, but it wasn't easy.
Right now (knock on wood) everything works perfect.
I'm scared to death to buy anything new. I don't want to jinx myself.

Elizabeth and Sue, it intimidates the bejeebers out of me to think of you awesome ladies reading my books. Fingers and toes crossed that you close the book with a smile. ;-)

I'll be putting up my "official" blog next Friday. Fun! I'm looking forward to it. I hope the hotel for RT has good internet service.

Thank you again everyone. I sincerely hope that Murphy's Law lives up to your expectations.

    BIG HUGS!
    Lori

Stella is amazing, Patti, no doubt about it.
I still remember that day so well. She has it right about the snow storm. It was bitter cold and blustery. But it was one of my best conferences ever because Stella really boosted my confidence. I'd written 10 books, and had them all rejected by every publisher in the biz. I wasn't going to give up, but man, I was tired of having books kicked back to me.
I can't tell the whole story on here, but Stella really played a part in my early career.
She still plays a part in things. When I have questions, I go to Stella. She hasn't steered me wrong yet!
    Hugs!

Hi Lori!! I finally made it over here to welcome you to the quills. :)

Stella is a really cool person isn't she? Except for when she isn't trying to escape the closet.

I have been reading Lori from the very beginning. I saw it on the shelf and it had new author on it. So I picked it up and have been hooked on her ever since.

I first "met" Lori on the RBR loop and where we became friends about 8 years ago, but met her in person in Seattle when I went there for a CR conference.

I miss the CR cons, Barb! I haven't been to one in ages. But boy, that was a time, wasn't it? I remember all of us sitting in my room watching a movie, cracking jokes... good times!

Stella is the best. She inspires me daily. ;-)

    HUGS!

I have just purchased "Say No to Joe?" and it is killing me to wait and read it (I'm waiting to read in on vacation next week). If the rest of the book follows the snappy first few pages, I'll be in heaven!

nellsquirrel, Omaha, really? I was sure Stella came from some great exotic place. ;-) I wonder how many other things Jayne can tell us about Stella.

Hey Janice. Thanks for stopping by. Yeah. Daytona. Leaving tomorrow. Um... and I'm not ready! Gads.

    Hugs to everyone!

    Yea,

I'm glad these guys get a series of there own, hope there's more to come ^_^*

P.S. Also hope they stay in PB format and not the trade size. I know you have no control over it, but it's really hard to budget in those more expensive books. And I can't wait and just buy the PB (if it ever comes out in PB) so I bite the bullet. You're worth it though!
