Well, Stella, do you think I should give it a try? LOL
Again I must admit that I haven't read the entries in recent years. My usual reasons apply. It seems that I forget something or someone every day. But I guess you can't "put your foot into every puddle"--a very rough translation but meaningful statement of a German saying my mother often used, though why you'd want to step into every puddle when you're an adult eludes me. Actually, more literally it means "you can't put out the eyes in every puddle". It is a really weird expression when you think of translating it and it just makes no sense at all in any language. Very interesting. I must find out more about this saying. Language and languages are so endlessly fascinating, don't you think?
Ach, it's so deceiving now at this site. I can see all the pictures except for photos on the actual blog without putting on the "images" in Firefox. At least I've learned how to not lose my comment.
Aah, the verification has appeared. I can't even use the handicapped version because my speakers are still in limbo-land. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get it all sorted out. - Stella said...

Ranurgis: What a puzzling saying that is--about puddles. As I go along I discover more fascinating sources of sayings. In England recently, inside the Houses of Parliament, I asked about lines painted on the carpets not far from the front rows of members' benches--one on either side of the chamber and running its length. "No member should step over that line when speaking," I was told. "Not even when particularly passionate about an issue." And so we get, "toeing the line." That day brought several good tidbits.
Should you try your hand at a scene for the Scarlet Boa? If the idea tickles your fancy, m'dear, then of course!

Thanks for the info, Stella... it's a wonderful idea and a great contest. I'm not a writer but I can't wait to read the winner's submission!

*Gasp* Oh my...ohhhh my. Am I worthy? Can I possibly do it?
Yes! I must at least try! This is so exciting!
On a related note, as anyone ever seen the movie American Dreamer? Oh, it is a wonderful flick!! It's about a woman who enters a writing contest and wins a trip to Paris. On her way to accept her award, she's mugged and gets amnesia. She believes herself to be the character in the story. Have I mentioned that I love this movie? - talpianna said...

I would enter, except for the curious fact that no one votes for my entries....

I just reread the requirements. Approximately 500 words? 500?!?!? I'm just getting started at 500! Oy! Is it claustrophobic in here?
*breathes deeply* See it as a challenge...
