    Products I love...

For 2 days, I've been down with the flu. I got it from my adorable little grandson, and it breaks my heart to think that he felt this bad. Poor baby!
Anyway, because of that, this is going to be a quickie no-nonsense blog written the morning that it needs to be up.
Then I'm going back to bed.

One thing that saved me while I was sick is this neat "anti-nausea" medicine my husband found on the Kroger grocery shelves. I'm sure there's a brand name of the same, but he always buys generic, and this just says, "Anti Nausea medicine." It's available in every drug store, and probably most grocery stores.
    It works. Thank the heavens.
If you get this awful flu that's going around, please, give it a try.

That got me to thinking - what other wonderful products do I love?
First, because I hate hair sprays that leave my hair stuff or gunky, my salon talked me into trying Bed Head, Hard Head. It's awesome.
You spray it in, and then you can't tell it's there except that your hairdo holds. Straight, curly, whatever, you keep the style and don't have all that gung to contend with.

Also, because I have very fine hair, I now refuse to wash my hair with anything other than a body building formula. I've tried them all, from super expensive to super cheap, and honestly, I like the VO5 Extra Body shampoo and conditioner the best. Not only does it smell good, but it makes it look I have twice as much hair.

I don't do my nails often anymore, but when I do, I want it to last. So I LOVE Rush 60 Second Speed Lacquer. It dries your nail polish, makes your nails shine, and gives a super hard top coat that keeps them from chipping for up to 10 days. (Mine usually lasts at least 6 days.)

If you're like me, and always pressed for time, you resent the time it takes to fuss with all that after-shower lotion. But if you don't, you have winter skin. Yuck.

Well, the Olay line of moisturinse "in shower" body lotion is awesome. It takes seconds to use, you rinse it off, and voila! No other lotions are needed. It's my favorite new product.

In fact, I really like just about all the Olay products. At almost 50, I still have combination skin. I like the face wash cloths - they're little dry cloths that get sudsy when you wet them, and they're soooo easy to pack!
I also love the tinted lotion with sunscreen. I don't wear face make-up often (I don't wear much make up at all) and this takes care of sunscreen and gives a more even tone to skin.

Okay, that's my long multi-commerercial for the day.
Now I'm ready to go back to bed until the last draining effects of this virus go away.

So what about you? What are some of your favorite products to use?
What's the one thing you can't do without?
Tell us something that you think is so good, you wish you could convince all your friends to use it.

Be well, my friends! Avoid anyone with this bug, please. And if you do get it, have someone grab that anti-nausea medicine for you asap!

    HUGS,

I'm so sorry that you've been ill. I hope you'll recover quickly.

Just one product I'll hype today- the Venus razor. I get razor rash after shaving except with the Venus razor. It also causes less nicks.

Lori - I just wrote a post and it disappeared... sigh...

I am so sorry you caught the bug from Lucas. My daughter's family went to Florida on vacation and came home with a second round of the virus! Nasty business.

Products I love... hmm... something I discovered last summer was Jergens Natural GLow Daily Moisturizer. It has some self-tanner in it, but you never have to worry about orange streaks. It just darkens your skin gradually and very subtly. I am very pale, so I use the lightest shade.

Now go crawl back in bed and feel better soon!

    Lori,

Feel better soonest! The bug has made it's rounds in our household and, for now, it's over. Thank God.

Product endorsements... hmmm. Lemme think. This is stuff that I've either used for years or stuff that I found to replace what I've used for years 'cuz it's better stuff. That made perfect sense, really.

    Make-up
    Loreal Lash Architect Mascara
    Neutrogena Healthy Skin Powder
    Skin
    Neutrogena Healthy Skin Lotion
    Neutrogena Foaming Face Wash

Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa - Mega (Shea) Butter Skin Cream (awesome for winter skin!)
Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa - Look Ma, New Hands (shea butter hand cream)
Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa - Watch Your Mouth lip balm
    Hair
    Organix Vanilla Silk Shampoo

    Neutrogena Clarifying Shampoo
    Infusium 23 Conditioner

That's all my MUST HAVE junk... I love it all.

Living with four guys and being active myself, we swear by Myoflex. It doesn't have that distinctive odor most muscle rubs have, but it works great.

And to cover the gray, I love using Clairol's Nice and Easy. It's not expensive and looks very natural.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Maybe you'll feel like eating cake at the shower.

    Lori,

Hope you are feeling better soon. I hate being ill so I can sympathize.

Deb is making me envious about Bath and Bodyworks. We don't have that where I live and the few times I have gone to one, I loved the products.

I have Oil of Olay Moisturizing Lotion - Love it. I also like Dove Shower lotion.

For face wash, I use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin scrubbing wash and toner.

I have Peppermint foot lotion, which I adore. It really softens your feet.

    I don't wear make-up so I don't have any favourite make-up products...

Lori, Even tho I'm in my early 60's, I still have combination skin - some things you never outgrow apparently.

I use Merle Norman Moisture Emulsion - it's the very best moisturizer I've ever used. It doesn't make oily skin oilier, but it keeps dry skin nice and moist. Oil of Olay makes my skin break out.

I think Lubriderm body lotion works really well for legs and arms. I haven't tried any of the bath washes as I don't like feeling oily or greasy.

I hope you feel better soon. Kudos to your hubby for taking good care of you!

I'm keeping a list of these products ladies, and I hope to one day try them all.

Kathy, I have the Venus razor and love it too! Forgot it about.

Thanks for the well wishes all. I'm feeling better, just still very tired.

I am a very simple woman when it comes to all the products out there. For soap: sensitive skin Dove. (I'm allergic to shae butter and lanolin)
St. Ives whipped silk lotions, it leaves skin very soft.
Enfusim(sp) leave in conditioner and Neutrogena clarifying shampoo. That's it. I don't wear make-up, and I keep things really simple.
    Hope you feel better soon!

I'm super sensitive to smells, but I love the Aveda shampoo and creme rinse that my hairstylist uses at his saloon. I use Victoria Principal facial products, again because they are hypo-allergenic. I have really soft nails, so I use Nailtiques #2.

I, too, lived on the anti-nausea medication when I had the "tummy flu" just before Christmas, Lori. I wonder now if it was related to my brand of peanut butter. :-)

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

P.S. In the past several weeks I've had a couple of posts simply disappear when I tried to preview them.

The flu sucks. Just hang in, it will eventually get tired of itself and go away.

    My favorites are few:

Yardley soaps, lavender, rose, and oatmeal/almond, in that order.

Perfumes: any floral scent now, back in my youth it was Tigress, Emeraude, and Zyganie - the more musky ones.

I don't use make-up anymore, because mostly what I made up was my eyes, and now I can't risk any infections. Face powder looks sort of ridiculous with naked eyes.

Lotions: just about any kind I can get my hot little hands on - the best ones I've found are organic florals [there's those roses again] and Melaleuca hand lotion - it's probably cheaper as basic tea tree oil lotion, but Melaleuca was the first one I came across and I stocked up.

PS: Blogger keeps refusing to believe I've put the right characters in it's little box, and makes me do it half a dozen times before it takes.

I had a 24 hour bug last week and the nausea was so terrible. I went to the store to get more cola syrup (suggested by a pharmacist when I had the flu 2 yrs. ago-it really works), but they were out. The anti-nausea syrup- Walmart generic brand- was what I bought instead. It took 4 doses in an hour before the nausea subsided.

Favorite products? Lush bath products (lush.com)- especially the bath bombs and bubble bars. Love, love, love their stuff. All natural ingredients and wonderful scents.

I can't live without my Burt's Bees lip balm. Ecco Bella has nice make-up, all natural, but don't buy their lotion. Jason's Cosmetics has wonderful lotion.

I usually just put up with colds and flu (sleeping lots) but for headaches nothing works but Excedrin - something about the caffine I think.

Get well quick and don't overdo it!

Products... um. Fleischmann's yeast is a staple of mine, I seek it out over any other kind.
Also there's a brand of socks I really like for cold weather hiking (I'm allergic to wool), but I can't think of the name! Grrr. It'll come to me.
At three o'clock in the morning, no doubt!

Hugs Lori, I hope you are feeling better. You know I haven't been up to par lately. I am going to have to look up that anti nausea
    stuff.

I love Burt's Bee'slip gloss, I break out easily and that is about the only thing I can use on my lips.

I love love Bed head products.

I swear by Suave's in shower body lotion. I swear it stops the itching I get.

Pantene shampoo and conditioner are a must have for me.

Ok off to the docs for me.

Sue, my husband is sensitive to smells too, and Christmas is hard on his nose, what with all the evergreen smells, and cinnamon...
I LOVE scents, and when I write I always have a scented candle or incense burning.

karibear, blogger has done the SAME thing to me. I KNOW I've typed it correctly, but it says no. Plus sometimes it's impossible to see what the letters are!

Che, I'll have to try out lush.com - I savor my baths when I can indulge them. Usually it's a quickie shower, though. I'm working so hard to find more ME time, but so far, not much luck.

Shoshana, everything comes to me at bedtime when I'm trying to sleep. LOL
But I love socks, especially thick white ones. I wear them year round. In the winter the house is cold because of weather, and in summer because the guys like the air conditioning so low!

Judy, I hope you feel better soon. I'm finally on the mend and feeling human again. Shew. That was a bad bug!

    Hugs to all!

Lori, glad you're feeling better. I think that 'flu bug is everywhere.

I'm sensitive to smells, too. Especially florals, so I use a lot of unscented products. I can use vanilla scented products, even though I sometimes feel like a giant vanilla cookie. One thing I swear by is the body creams from Bath and Body Works (vanilla scented, of course). They are the best skin moisturizers I've used.

And I've used the same hair product since college (practically last year, honest!) - Aussie Sprunch Spray. Although, if I don't find the unscented version, my head smells like a fruit salad. Hmm. I'm noticing a theme here.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

Lori, I hope you're feeling better! As to products, I LOVE Nail Envy. I have horrible nails that chip, slit and break and just won't grow. If I use Nail Envy regularly I actually have pretty nails. :)

Hope you feel better soon, Lori! One product I absolutely love is Chanel's High Gloss Top Coat for nails. It really makes nails (toes or fingers) sparkle unlike anything else I've ever used and it doesn't turn dull or yellow. I use it alone (no color underneath) on my fingernails and I put it on over whatever color I happen to use on my toenails.

Of course, being a writer and a wife who loves to cook I only paint my fingernails for special occasions, like signings or the annual RWA convention. But the toes I paint every time we go to Hawaii. Love that top coat!

Speaking of candles, Tyler Candle Company candles are great. They're made of soy with great scents, and a great "throw"- that is how much the scent reaches around the room. My favorite scent is Girly Girl.

Hope you're feeling better already, Lori. I'd hate to have another round of the flu.

I had some really rough heels and couldn't find anything that worked. One day, I happened across an Avon product for cracked heels. I decided to rub it in and then wear a pair of those little socks overnight. Since then I've been problem-free--after just one night. Sorry I can't tell you what it's called exactly. I have to find it again after my move.

I'm glad you found a great product for fine hair. I don't know how many I've tried in my life both here and in Europe. I'll certainly give the AV5 a try. I also still have combination skin though it's still heavy on the "oily". So maybe I'll also give "Olay" a try.

I could do with something for nausea too though I doubt I'd be able to get the same product here.

Lou, I'm glad I'm not the only one still afflicted with combo skin at this age. Sorry, but in this case misery loves company--though other people praise my wrinkle-free skin. I guess it all depends on your POV.

Jayne, I'll have to try that nail gloss. Does it last a nice long time? Do you get it at salons?

I've worn socks so often that my feet stay pretty soft, though when I was young I was barefoot more than I wore shoes. LOL. I walk on gravel without a wince.

Love scented candles of all kinds, so I'll try the ones made of soy.

Thanks for all the neat recommends and get well wishes folks. I'm now flu-free. Yay. LOL

Take care and have a wonderful Sunday!

I still can't find the sock company. Mostly it's found in the men's section but twice I've found a size that fits in the boys'... why do they assume girls don't hike?! Sigh.

Lori, lol, much as I love being compared to the Grand Creatrix of wonderful love stories, the most talented thing I come up with at three am is usually a symphony of snores.
Random information whose use I have forgotten until I can't recall the answer anymore does not count!

Hey Shohana, I have pens and notepads *everywhere.* Next to "my" chair in the family room, which is where I sit with my doggies whenever I'm relaxing to watch tv. I keep them in the kitchen, all the bathrooms next to the tubs/shower, beside the bed (with a light-up pen, so I can see what I'm writing) in the cars and in my purse.
I take a LOT of notes!

Oo, a light-up pen for midnight notes?
Thanks, you've just solved my 'find a present for Mom's next birthday' quest!
So... when you have all those notes all those different places, how do you manage to get them all organized into one book? Do you swap all the notebooks for new ones and then enter the notes all at once? (Er, right, shut up and let her answer. Yup, I know how questions work!)
