THE RIVER KNOWS is out in paperback!

I'm delighted to tell you that THE RIVER KNOWS, my latest Amanda Quick novel, is now available in paperback. No, this is not an Arcane Society novel. It is a stand-alone. But it is set in the same Late Victorian world. It features Miss Louisa Bryce who makes her living as an undercover reporter covering the scandals and sensations of the Polite World. You will also meet the notorious Anthony Stalbridge, a wealthy, mysterious gentleman who just happens to be at the heart of society's most notorious scandal

Here's a little taste of the story...

"Well, I suppose we must look at the positive side of things," Louisa said. "The fact that the members of your family think that we are engaged in an intimate liaison does indicate that our little charade may be working after all, don't you think?"

He decided not to respond to that because he could feel his temper heating.

She cleared her throat. "My point is that if your own relatives are convinced that we are romantically involved, Hastings must certainly believe it also, and that is the important thing, is it not?"

He continued to watch her, saying nothing.

She glowered. "Stop looking at me like that."

    "Like what?" he asked.

"As if you're about to pounce. What are you thinking, sir?"

He unfolded his arms, flattened his hands on the desk, and leaned toward her. "I am thinking," he said evenly "that my family's conclusion is no more or less than the truth. We are having an illicit affair."

"Yes, well, I suppose one could say that in the technical sense of the word--."

"In every sense of the word."

He swung her up into his arms and started toward the door.

SPECIAL NOTE: Those of you who read me as Jayne Castle have been asking about the next Ghost Hunter novel. I'm excited to tell you that the first chapter of the next book in that series, DARK LIGHT, appears at the end of THE RIVER KNOWS.

DARK LIGHT won't be out until late August but here's your chance to meet our newest heroic dust bunny: Elvis. Oh, yeah, you'll also get a chance to meet John Fontana, a sexy and very mysterious Guild Boss. But more about those two later.

I wish you all a happy spring!

    earlier post-woohoo!

Now, Jayne, do I get a dustbunny? Pleeaase.

    Jayne,
I loved TRK and the hardcover is safe on my keeper shelf. I bought the paperback for the exerpt and with the thought to pass it on to friends (keeps my hardcover from being "lost" LOL).

Looking forward to meeting Elvis and John!

    Happy Opening Day!

Melissa: Thanks for the enthusiasm for those Guild bosses! Hope you love Fontana. He'll arrive in late August.

Lynne: No dust bunnies for sale, sadly. They choose their own humans. But I think you'll like Elvis. I mean, who couldn't love Elvis?

Sirry: Thanks for taking the time to go out for TRK a second time! I really treasure readers who do that.

Lori: Thanks! Glad you enjoy the little scenes. It is always hard to choose one that is short enough to fit into a blog but I like to give people a feel for the story and that's one way to do it.

dFender:Hope you enjoy Elvis and Fontana. I had a blast writing those two.

I loved TRK and plan on rereading it during my vacation later this spring/summer. Also, can't wait to meet Elvis the dust bunny. (Truly an inspired idea, JAK.)

    Have a great week all!

    Jayne,

I have read and enjoyed 'The River Knows', "White Lies', 'Silver Master' and 'Sizzle and Burn'.

Here I am looking forward to 'The Third Circle' and now we are being tempted with another gorgeous dust bunny, Elvis who will be revealed to us quite in August. Ah well.

Jayne, every time I come to the end of one of your books, I think: "How can she top this?" And you always do. I have never been disappointed.

So I shall continue to wait patiently.

Elvis. *big happy sigh* Ghost Hunters are welcome in my dreams any time.

The River Knows is a wonderful, wonderful read. But then, you always are. It's so great having an author who can always--always--be trusted to deliver an exciting, engrossing story.

You mean that I've seen The River Knows everywhere for at least a week, and all along there was a gem hiding in the back! I've purchased the hard cover of TRK so I've noted the paperback but didn't pick it up. Now I'll be buying the paperback just so I can wear out the pages with the DL excerpt.

elig, well, I appreciate that but it seems a little over the top to buy a second copy in paperback just for one chapter! Maybe you could just sort of stand there in the bookstore and read it real fast?

You have to be an Elvis aficionado in our household. The DH is a huge Elvis fan and he brainwashed our son at a very young age.

Jayne, as someone who has managed to complete and publish only 8 books or so in, umm, around 25 years, I am totally in awe both of your steady output and its fantastic quality. You keep on getting better - and you were already amazingly good back in 1983...

Looking forward eagerly, as always, to the new novels.

Any chance of the DARK LIGHT excerpt being posted here? or on your website? or on your publisher's website?
