Elizabeth Guest presents her guest: Jayne!

Elizabeth Guest is busy finishing off the next volume in her fabulous Pharaoh's Rising series so Jayne here, again, to give you another scene from THE RIVER KNOWS, my latest Amanda Quick novel now available in paperback.

Also a reminder: if you enjoy my GHOST HUNTER books, you'll find a sneak peek at the next novel in the series, DARK LIGHT, at the end of THE RIVER KNOWS. You'll get to meet our latest heroic dust bunny, Elvis.

Meanwhile, here's another scene from THE RIVER KNOWS.

"You must leave at once, sir," Louisa said. "Emma must not find us together when I am in this state of undress. Hurry."

He reached for his boots. "You will note that this is one of the great drawbacks to an illicit affair. One must maintain constant vigilance."

She grabbed her robe off a hook. "You can't go out the front door. You will have to use the back stairs and leave through the garden." She snatched Anthony's hat off the table and tossed it to him. "Go."

"One question before I leave, Louisa."

"No questions. There is no time."

"My question is, did you experience anything approaching transcendence this afternoon?" he asked.

She was horrified by the delay. "For pity's sake, sir, this is no time to talk about that sort of thing."

"I am not leaving until I get an answer."

"Yes, yes, it was all a marvelously transcendent experience. Just as the novelists describe it. Now leave at once, sir."

He smiled, kissed her again, very quickly, very possessively, and departed.

She thought she heard him whistling in the garden.

I hope you enjoy The River Knows!

    Sincerely,

    Jayne

just info, haven't seen a HB of yours for ages, we usually get two sorts of books, one called a trade paperback then six months later, one called a mass market paperback, the trade is the same size as a HB but soft. the other one is almost handbag size and sometimes totally different covers to what is shown on website.

    Oh yum!!!
Jayne, your books are always so dang delicious!
I'm finishing up the oh-so-incredible Sizzle and Burn right now (I know, I'm such a pathetically slow reader) and then I've got a very prized arc by EL.
    (Snickers at everyone)
And then your historical will be next!
Good thing I've got so much travel lined up in April. That's my best time to read - when I'm away from home!
    Hugs,

    Lori

The River Knows is on my TBR pile . . . again. Can't wait to reread it!

Read the HB version of The River Knows and loved it. The scene you shared makes me think the thought "isn't that just like a man to ask that question at that time!"
    heh.

Another winner from Jayne! Since yours are always keepers, I'm waiting for my Kindle to (finally, maybe, someday) get here so I can get it in ebook.

aussie dee: Interesting about the lack of hardcovers there. But I like that trade paperback size. Bigger print without paying hardcover prices!

    Lori: Enjoy your April break!

EG: Can't wait for the next Pharaoh's Rising book!

Laura: Thanks for the kind words on The River Knows. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

EL: You've ordered a kindle? Can't wait to hear about it.

Thanks for the heads-up on Elvis, Jayne! I was going to wait for the weekend (we try to combine trips to town) but we ended up going out to dinner. Yes, of course I demanded we detour to purchase a copy of THE RIVER KNOWS! The teaser for DARK LIGHT was great and I ended up re-reading about half of THE RIVER KNOWS before my eyes blurred and I had to go to sleep ... LynneW

I asked this question somewhere else but would like anybody else's opinion, is me or the book? what do you call it when the authors you really liked a few years ago not longer interest you? and no I'm not talking about the Quills. I looked but didn't buy the new ones of certain authors
