JAYNE ANNOUNCES A NEW ARCANE SOCIETY NOVEL

I'm excited to tell you all that the latest book in my Arcane Society series, THE THIRD CIRCLE, goes on sale Tuesday, April 22nd. This is an historical written under my AMANDA QUICK name. In it you will meet Thaddeus Ware, of the Arcane Society who has a psychic gift for mesmerism. Turns out respectable females are quite fearful of him. After all, a man who can control the minds of others could rob a lady of her virtue completely unbeknownst to her!

You will also meet Miss Leona Hewitt, a lady with a scandalous past who, with her psychic gift for crystals, makes a rather precarious and somewhat less than respectable — at least in the eyes of the Arcane Society — living analyzing other peoples dreams.

Here is a little taste of the story:

With a groan of startled anguish, Morton released her arm and reeled back. He clapped both hands to his temples.
    "My head," he screamed.
"I fear our time is up for today," Leona announced, leaping to her feet.
She rushed to the door, yanked it open and dashed out into the reception room.
Thaddeus Ware caught her with one arm and scooped her close against him.
"We really must stop meeting like this," he said.
"What on earth?" Stunned she stared at him, unable to believe her eyes.
Thaddeus ignored her to fix Morton with a cold, dangerous look.
"What is going on here?" he asked in a voice that could easily have frozen the fires of hell.
"Now see here, sir," Morton sputtered. "You'll have to wait your turn. I paid for an hour-long session. I have a good thirty minutes left."
"You will leave now," Thaddeus said, infusing the command with just enough energy to create a deadly soft voice of doom.
    Morton fled down the stairs.
Thaddeus looked at Leona. "Do many of your crystal consultations end in such an energetic fashion?"
    "Really, sir, I hardly think—."
"I told you that I would find you again, Miss Hewitt. You will learn that I always keep my promises."

I will be signing THE THIRD CIRCLE at the following Seattle area events. As always, if you can't make it to any of these, remember you can always order a signed copy from Seattle Mystery Bookshop. Just be sure to give them plenty of advance notice so they can reserve a copy for you. I will inscribe it for you on the day of the event and the fabulous staff at the shop will mail it to you.

    Morning, Jayne!

Can't wait for THE THIRD CIRCLE, I pre-ordered on Amazon so I'm looking forward to receiving it shortly.

Can't wait to meet Leona and Thaddeus... love those names you keep finding, too! :-)

Congratulations on what I'm sure is another stellar story in the Arcane Society.

Ohhhh... a historical! I'm SO into historicals right now. (probably because I'm writing contemporary)

Jayne, you are soooo mega prolific! I'm sure all your readers appreciate it - I know I do!

I definitely agree with both Lori and dfender: I'm eagerly awaiting this book. I have one of the first holds on the library's copies. I sure hope they won't take as long to get here as Lori's HARD TO HANDLE. It still hasn't shown up even to be cataloged.

Meanwhile, I've finished rereading SWEET STARFIRE. I loved the story, the characters and the "moral" about how to keep a civilization going. I'm definitely glad that you decided to go "too far," Jayne (see comment 32 on Stella's latest blog.)

I am so looking forward to the release of this book! (as with all your books). I even get to buy it "guilt free" because I'm buying it with my birthday money from my dad.

I recently turned my daughter on to the Jayne/Amanda books. She is 34 years old and had never read any of them. Her first was "Trust Me" and now she is devouring them one by one. She says they are great airplane books and since she takes a lot of trips for work she should know.

I want to say thanks to you, Jayne, for the many hours of pleasurable reading you have given to all of us. Now I have to make sure I get a copy of the new one!

DFENDER: Glad you appreciate the names of the characters. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find good

names??? Especially after having used so many of the cool ones in previous books.

LORI: I'll take that as a good omen. Just hope everyone else is also into historicals this spring!!!!

RANURGIS: Thanks for the interest in The Third Circle and I'm glad you were still able to find Sweet Starfire. That one

has been out of print for quite a while.

KIM: Hey, tell your dad I said thanks!!

MELISSA: Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know you're enjoying the series.

ASHLEY LADD: Well, hey, this is my day to say hello to dads. Please tell yours I really appreciate his interest in my

    books.

STELLA: Thanks. I love the cover, too.

AGTIGRESS: I agree with you and Stella on the cover. I think it is very classy, romantic and sort of mysterious -- a

tricky look to pull off but the fabulous art department at my publisher did it!

SUSAN ANDERSEN: Well, that makes the cover art approval committee vote unanimous. Thanks!

LYNNE: Okay, now I get to thank a mom! I really appreciate your introducing your daughter to my books. Please tell

    her I said hello.

LOUIS: So glad you're enjoying the series. It is sure a lot of fun to write -- especially when I know that there are

    readers like you out there.

JACKIE TOO: Love that line about "sitting on ready"!!!

EliG: Yep, three local signings. Hope to see you at one of them.

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!

I preordered it from Amazon, but it looks like it won't ship till AUGUST 4th! I assume that's the date of the most distant of my remaining preorders. Dunno if they will ship TC separately on time or not. In the latter case, I'll just have to borrow Hilde's copy to read.

Any good cats in this one?

Never fear, Jayne, though this copy was in the library, I have a copy of SWEET STARFIRE in one of my boxes of keepers, as I have all of yours, under whichever name, as well as Ann/Elizabeth's and Suzanne/Elizabeth's.

I'm sorry, but I have only a few books by each of the newer-to-me Quills.

LAURA: Thanks and hope the library got some copies.

BRANDY: Thanks and hope you enjoy it.

TAL: Don't worry, TTC is definitely scheduled to be released April 22nd

EVERYONE: I want to thank you all so much for your enthusiasm for this series. I can't tell you how much it means to me. Readers like you make the writing a joy.

Jayne, I know the book will come out on time. I'm just afraid that because of their "bundling shipments to qualify for free postage" deal, amazon.com won't ship it till the last of my preordered books comes out in August, when they will ship all of them.

I turned my daughter on to your books also a few years ago when she was in college. While she likes them all, she really likes the Jayne Castle books because of the paranormal aspect. So I am now working on her for the Arcane Society books. I sent her a couple for her birthday last month, but she hasn't had a chance to read them yet. I think we have another convert in the works!

I was hoping to get this on Kindle, but apparently your pub isn't on board for that. *sigh*

Since I read and LOVED IT in ms, I'll just go the old-fashioned hardcover route.

Can't wait to read THE THIRD CIRCLE, Jayne. It's next on my TBR pile after the one I'm devouring right now by a very talented romantic suspense writer named Stella Cameron! :-)

    I agree: Great cover!
