Elizabeth G: Hippo Birdie Two Ewe!

Translation (from an old birthday card I found in my keepsake box): Happy Birthday to You!

Did you know that more people are born in August than in any other month of the year? (Including me.)

A few of the famous August-born include:

    ~singer Tony Bennett

~ NFL New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady

~ first man to walk on the moon Neil Armstrong

    ~ poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson

    ~ artist Andy Warhol

    ~ spy/dancer Mata Hari

    ~ actor Antonio Banderas

    ~ movie director Alfred Hitchcock

    ~ bestselling novelist Danielle Steel

    ~ singer Madonna

    ~ King Louis XVI

    ~ Mother Teresa

    ~ tennis star Pete Sampras

And last on my list, but far from least: actor Sean Connery

REMINDER: Don't forget we have a "Dog Days of Summer" contest ongoing here at RWQ for a prize package of books and assorted goodies described by Lori Foster in her blog of 7/31/08. On August 29th the lucky winner will be drawn from among those who have posted comments during the past month.

So, do you have an August birthday? Whenever your birthday, how did you celebrate your Big Day this year?

    ~EG

I was born in May. Even though it was only three months ago, I don't recall what I did to celebrate this year. Nothing memorable, apparently. I can't even blame old age; I'm only a quarter of a century old. :)

    Happy birthday to you!

Ok, I have 2 daughters born in August, 1 granddaughter, and one SIL. But timing is everything on the August bulk BDs, i.e. count back 9 months. With one of my daughters some 30 babies were born on the same day in August. One of the harried nurses came running in and said, "You girls are going to have to find another way to keep warm in the winter." :)
Until my grandson was born, I'd hogged April all to myself. It was all my month. Yes, I celebrate all month. Now I have to share.

One granddaughter with an August Birthday here--and one very dear friend whom we all know and love:)

I'm a December person which means I barely remember my last Birthday... It was probably very sunny with occasional outbursts of "Out of the will they go," from me. Not, of course, that I intend to leave anything behind since I'll need it myself first. But when the little dears take a tad too long to remember their poor mother, I do get some ratty thoughts.

Seriously, I love my husband's sweetness and the calls from my children, and from my Brit relatives.

We have oodles of August babies in my family. Seems like I'm mailing cards every couple days. My birthday is one month from today and I'm celebrating this year with a long weekend in Charleston with girlfriends who are flying in from all over the country. Then, the following weekend I'm continuing the celebration at the Moonlight & Magnolias conference in Atlanta. :) Can't wait!

Happy Birthday to all you August babies out there!

No August birthday here (December), but I do have a Sean Connery movie marathon (or at least however many I can shove into one day) on the 25th every year. . . ;) Such a cutie, and the voice, oh yeah. LOL :)

    Happy Birthday, EG!

My birthday is in November, when I turn the big 5-0, and my husband and kids are giving me grief because I'll be in San Diego at the time! LOL

I don't celebrate bdays much beyond accepting a few gifts from my husband and sons, and usually a special dinner. :-)

    Have a wonderful birthday!

The glut of August birthdays must mean that this means that people are finding constructive ways to fill the dark days in November and December every year....

I have a daughter with an August birthday (originally due September 20th...we had a very Merry Christmas!)

I know a lot of people with August BDs but mine is in November. Does having an August wedding anniversary count? (pouty lip) We celebrated our 36th anniversary yesterday with a dinner at a neighborhood Italian place. KAthyK

Holy crap. There are days I shouldn't be allowed near a computer until my coffee kicks in. I meant to say:

    Hiya EG!

Happy birthday to your grand daughter, Stella. I'm a July 29th baby. I celebrated by ignoring the fact that I'm over 40. LOL. I'm good at that. Presents still accepted!

Happy birthday to all the August babies out there, especially you, EG!

While I'm a July, my DH is an August. But I'd have thought the most babies born would be April because most of both of our families have April birthdays!

My mom, dad, and nephew all have August birthdays. My dad turned 70 on 8/8/08. We celebrated with a BBQ with all his siblings and spouses. He's the "baby" of the family so that gives you an idea of the ages of the partiers! I hope some of those longevity genes got passed on to me.

I am a February baby, however, my brother, niece, and several cousins were all August babies. They were never happy because friends would be on vacation for their birthday parties. I, on the other hand, was always jealous because their birthdays involved hours more of sunlight and a pool.

My birthday is in September, but my son's birthday is the same as Tom Brady's, August 3, and since he's 9, this is totally wicked.

I have nothing planned for my next birthday, it's not a big one only 33 so I'll just probably go to dinner with the my family. Of course, I have to take my parents since their the reason I'm here.

    Happy Birthday!!

I'm a November baby, but my family has a few August births to celebrate- nephew, sister in law, brother in law. I think that's all of them. I never remember them all, no matter how hard I try.

I celebrated my last birthday with a nice breakfast that was made by my kids. They were 5 and 8 at the time and I think I had microwave oatmeal and a kiddie cup of milk. My presents were picked by my kids- a pillow, jammies, and perfume. I get the same thing every year and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy B-day to you and me!! In company with Sean Connery, not too shabby. I celebrated with my husband and 2 daughters. We lunched and shopped at my favorite store--Brighton. I came away with a great gift. Of course, there were the great homemade cards from my girls-10 and 12.

    What a day!

    Hi Elizabeth,

I'm another August baby. I celebrated in my standard 10 days of revelry. I tell myself it's kinder to not hold people to schedule 'me' orientated events to only one day.lol

In Australia, where I'm from, a bumper crop of August babies probably has a lot to do with the holiday atmosphere that starts with the Melbourne Cup (celebrated nationally on the first Tuesday in November) and the lead up of summer parties before Christmas.

Sort makes a pretty apt beginning for a bunch of people of the leonine persuasion. Happy Birthday.

My late husband and neighbor shared an Aug birthday, so I never forget either one. My anniversary was in Aug, my brother is in Aug and my daughter's new boyfriend is in August. My husband used to complain about the rest of us because he had Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, son's BD in Jan, My & daughter's bd in Feb and Valentine's day. We used to just snicker at him.

Happy birthday to everyone no matter what month. I celebrated this year with a couple of young 'uns from work who couldn't believe I was as old as I am (made my day!)

August baby here. Mom & Dad took me out to eat. In the evening I REALLY celebrated by ordering to my heart's content from a bookstore. Without guilt. *g*

Btw, as a kid I always hated having my birthday in August because it limited the amount of people -and presents!- I could have at my party. I never had school friends at my birthday party because they were always off on vacation somewhere else. :-(
