  • Welcome to Running With Quills, your online newsletter designed to keep you up to date with what your favorite authors (that would be us) are doing throughout the year. Here you will find the release dates of our new books and get information about our backlists. We'll preview our cover art here long before the books hit the stores and we'll keep you informed about works-in-progress and special projects. You'll also receive advance notice of signings and appearances. From time to time we'll give you a peek at our worlds, tell you what we're reading, and introduce you to some new authors.

    Elizabeth G: Time Flies!

When my friend and fellow Quill, the talented Stella Cameron, pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago that RWQ debuted in 2006, I was skeptical. Au Contraire, I exclaimed, surely it can't be that long ago.

So, I looked back in my files and there it was: Blog #1 on January 1, 2006.

Stella was right! I was wrong. I was also flabbergasted. Even dumbfounded. That’s over 2½ years ago, folks. Who knew we’d still be going strong in the summer of 2008.

Which brings me to the point of this blog. I'd like to take a moment to express my personal “thanks” to Celeste and Cissy (without whom I'd never have a photo or a graphic to go with my little rantings), to my fellow Quills, to the readers who stop by and to those who also take the time and energy to post comments. And to the interesting variety of guests who visit and share their stories and books with us.

We are a community of readers and writers. We share our opinions, our experiences, our recommended reads, sometimes even our recipes. :-) (See my recent blog about searching for veggies to go with the Perfect Salmon.)

So, thank you one and all.

Now please tell me (because I've always been the curious sort): What keeps you coming back to RWQ?

    Happy Blogging!

Community! Since I enjoy all of your (the Quills) books and the way you all seem to care about your readers, I therefore enjoy communicating with you. You are all funny, smart and dear. This is the kind of people I like to hang out with. Plus you all make us think!

    Love to the Quills!

What a great question--I enjoy everyone's books. It's just fun to read your blogs, post a note and read others opinions.
Hey, we all need some "fun" in our day =)
    Thanks

EG- great blog! I'm lifting my water bottle in a toast to Cissy and Celeste, and to the original Quills who invited me on board.
    Thank you!
And to the readers who visit - you all rock bigtime!

    Hugs to all,

As for why? That's easy - the fun. You all are great writers and the blogs are terrific fun to read. The contests aren't bad either. :-)

This is going to sound weird, but I like everything about this blog. The sense of community, the varying posts and authors of said posts, the commenters, the news of new books, the authors, etc. It's ALL fabulous. *G*

I like that the quills respond. It is almost like being able to say 'my friend __________, the author' because I have 'talked' with you all.

Lynne, thank you for your very sweet and generous comments!

Deb, you can count any old way you want to. I do...especially when it comes to my age. :-) I like to think of it as "creative math."

Catherine, you're absolutely right. We all need "fun" in our day.

Lori, you've added so much to RWQ! And besides you're a "tech wizard" compared to most of us. :-)

Tammy, I'm so thrilled to hear the word "fun" from you, too, because as Catherine has said: we can all use more fun in our lives!

EL, I couldn't agree more. What would the Quills do without web goddesses Celeste and Cissy?

    5:54 PM
    Blogger Elizabeth Guest said...

Susan, we're all a little different, too. And I mean that in the best sense of the word. :-)

Cissy, there aren't enough accolades!! I appreciate your help and I treasure your friendship.

Stella, dear friend and fellow Quill forever! (I've always loved alliteration.:-)

Brandy, that's not weird, it's wonderful! What fun to hear you enjoy everything at RWQ.

Michelle, that's what we're here for: to share with you and to have you share with us in exhange.

SamG, what a cool way of putting it: We all "talk" with each other. In a sense that's what we do with this blog as well as with our books.

talpianna, you made me laugh out loud...again! Thank you for that at the end of a long workday. :-)

So much, really. It's like coming to have a little chat with friends a couple of times a week; hearing about the Quills' books--new or old; being able to chat on all sorts of subjects; and...definitely having my few minutes of fun a week. I don't get out that much, so this is really great. I enjoy some other blogs, too, but somehow they seem to require much more time and effort. Others are just too banal.

This one's just right, thanks to all of you.

One place filled with authors on my autobuy list.

The occasional insight into the writing process. I like seeing a bit of the craft and inspiration that leads to the finished products I enjoy so much.

The tortuous teasing tidbits of upcoming works.

So that I don't have a "my god, how did I miss that one" moment in the bookstore when a book slips by me.

i love seeing that your normal people who want to exchange recipes (by the way just try a simple rice dish with boiled carrots with salmon) complain about various things that go wrong in our lives and give us all tantalizing teasers from your books. i love reading all of them and what actually got me going to quills was because i was looking up jayne ann krentz and now that i've found all these other amazing authors i have way more selection so of course i will always be back.

-opportunity to make ass of myself *rolls eyes*
-can share enjoyment of book with author and others
-glimpses into the lives of authors
    -community/sharing

And I'm sure I've forgotten to mention a lot of things. *g*

We come from all walks of life and live in different parts of the world but I think the enjoyment of a good story (+ a little romance) brings us together.

It also doesn't hurt that all the Quills are so friendly and nice!

I don't always contribute but I always enjoy reading the blog and the comments. Unlike some web pages it's very easy on the eyes (and my mind!).

Thank you for inviting us to visit.
