Here you will find the release dates of our new books and get information about our backlists. We'll preview our cover art here long before the books hit the stores and we'll keep you informed about works-in-progress and special projects. You'll also receive advance notice of signings and appearances. From time to time we'll give you a peek at our worlds, tell you what we're reading, and introduce you to some new authors.

Congratulations to Susan Andersen and Jayne Ann Krentz for ranking among Amazon.com Editors' Best of 2009 in Romance!

    Elizabeth G: The Best Gift!

I know what I'm giving myself this year for Christmas. A great gift. The best gift. I'm finally finishing my latest manuscript: NIGHT HUNGER, Book 2 of my vampire romance series, Pharaohs Rising.

I try to write at least one book per year. But sometimes, like this past year, LIFE, in capital letters, intervenes and it’s not that often. So you can imagine how euphoric I’m feeling right now.

Yes, I need to take a deep breath and painstakingly (no pun intended, but I do write about vampires) read through the sucker (sorry, there I go again:-) — all 400+ pages of it.

Yes, with blue rollerball pen in hand, I will scribble my final edits up one side and down the other, filling the margins and every available white space on the page.

Yes, I will make myself enter all those darned edits on the computer. A tiresome job at best.

Yes, I will then and only then reward myself by writing the final climatic scene or two, making sure I've tidied up all those pesky loose ends. (This is my favorite part of a book as I work with a speed and passion that amazes even me sometimes. :-)

Yes, I will print out the manuscript and since my HP LaserJet 4M spouts out pages at the rate of 4 per minute, it takes a full day. (But since my printer still does a beautiful job, why invest in a new one?)

And, yes, I will at last drive over to FedEx and ship the book off to New York. (Unless, my publishing house allows me to e-mail the manuscript, in which case it will take me a good part of a day to create a single document.)

But by Christmas, for all intents and purposes, the book will be finis, a done deal, completed, off my “to do” list.

There is always a huge sigh of relief when a book is finished.

    Almost.

Actually, the huge sigh of relief will come after my editor has read and approved the book.

It’s a little too soon to decide how I’m going to celebrate once that glorious moment arrives. I took a raincheck on my birthday in August and my wedding anniversary in early September, so I figure it’s going to be a humdinger whatever it is. (And short-lived since I'm starting Book 3 on January 5th.)

So I’m asking for your input: Pray tell, Party People, after you've completed a huge project, how do you celebrate?

    Happy Holidays!
    EG

    EG,

Shoe therapy! It's the best de-stresser and I-finished-my-project reward... followed by a great book and coffee. 'Course you may wanna skip the book part at this time...LOL.

CONGRATULATIONS! I can't wait to read NIGHT HUNGER =)

    Yay! That's wonderful news. :)

I just finished my first manuscript, but it took me closer to 2 years and I won't feel euphoric about it until an agent or publisher takes it off my hands. (Which could be awhile, and might even end up be a learning experience, but I'm okay with that.)

To answer your question, I usually treat myself to a new book or some other indulgence when I feel like celebrating. :)

    To Elizabeth Guest:

Congratulations and a job well done!

I usually celebrate with a house full of family, food, wine, and laughter. I'm a little old fashioned in my celebrations.

Lift a glass for all authors when you celebrate. God bless 'em.

EG--Way to go! How about sleeping for a whole day just for a start? Then just stare for the next day--very therapeutic, that. Just don't rush into anything.

I tend to go from one book to the next--it's a way of life for me.

Congratulations, Elizabeth, and can I say I'm JEALOUS? I've got one due in January I'd hoped to finish before Christmas, but it's not going to happen. I haven't gotten a chance to crash since mid 2005 when I sold my series to Kensington. Since then I've written sixteen novels and novellas, now working on seventeen (a novel) and it's just been back to back. Thank goodness they're not 400 pages! More like 300, thank goodness. (I'm with you--I love that final tweaking, the last few changes and then sending it off. What a rush!)

Whatever you do to relax, do it in style and enjoy every minute.

    Have a wonderful Christmas!

    Congratulations Elizabeth!

When I finish a huge project - get me a huge carton of chocolate chocolate chip ice cream, a bag of potato chips, a can of coke and my favorite movie or book! Now that's celebrating.

Deb: I will confess I'm addicted to my morning cup of coffee. (Okay, two cups!) Shoe therapy is tough for me. Sigh. I have big feet. One is size 9 1/2 and the other 10 1/2 to boot. :-) No pun intended. lolololol

But kicking back and reading a good book or two or three---by my fellow Quills---sounds divine!
