JAYNE BRINGS YOU THE NEW ARCANE SERIES VIDEO

I was late to the party but a while back I finally slouched into the modern era and began using videos to promote my individual Arcane titles. As we have discussed on more than one occasion, trying to explain the Arcane series to readers who are not familiar with my world is complicated.

The problem, of course, is that the Arcane Society novels cross back and forth between my Amanda Quick historicals and my Jayne Ann Krentz contemporaries. The series has even begun to spill over into my Jayne Castle futuristics. Hey, you try explaining three pen names and three fictional landscapes all tied into a single series! Like I said, it's complicated.

And just to make things even trickier, in January I will fire up the Dreamlight Trilogy within the Arcane series. It will feature a book set in each of my worlds -- past, present and future -- under each of my three names. Now we're talking a trilogy within a series. Eek!

So, I wanted a video that would give readers an overall look not just at a single title but at the whole Arcane series and provide them a glimpse of the upcoming trilogy. I knew this would not be an easy task. Book videos are only about a minute long, after all. That's not a lot of time.

I am absolutely thrilled with the trailer that Cissy Hartley (Writerspace webmaster) and Paula Graves (a great author of romantic-suspense who just happens to hold a day job as a graphic designer) created for me. It seemed like an impossible task but they pulled it off brilliantly!

    Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks, Jo. Hope you like it. As I said, this is a trilogy within Arcane. Features the men of the Burning Lamp, the descendants of Sylvester Jones's mortal enemy, Nicholas Winters.

Oooo, and we have to wait over 6 months?! Sigh.... It looks like it's going to be good. I really like the video. It gives you the creation and evolution of the Arcane Society in a nutshell and piques your interest enough to go out and read those books you may have not considered before. Great job Jayne.

Jayne: As you would write--Boy Howdy! That is one fabulous video. Hats off to Cissy and Paula.

The Arcane Society is flying--in fact, I'm expecting to meet a member of the Jones family at any time because they're real to me. I suspect they're real to most readers.

    Great teaser.

When suggesting new books to patrons, the vids describe your Arcane series with a more visual impact. When I suggest a title, (exp; Perfect Poison, awesome book by the way and wicked video) I email the vid to the patron. A lot of times it's an automatic yes to a checkout! LOL

I think the book trailers are great when getting people to read an author/genre that they haven't before.

    Fabulous, Jayne! I love it.
I can just picture the notes around your house as you juggle all these time periods and the overall theme. LOL You amaze me!

I have only one complaint. January????!!!!! LOL.

Congrats to Cissy & Paula, too. Gorgeous.

Jayne, love the video and can't wait for the new book, but the trilogy is a truly wonderful idea. Wouldn't it be fun to share an interview with all three of your alter-egos? I'd love to see how each of you sees the series!

KATHY H: Yes, the first book in the trilogy, FIRED UP, goes on sale Dec. 29 but there will be a lot of stuff happening before then, including the opening of the Arcane Society Museum. Stay tuned!

STELLA: Thanks for the great feedback on the video. I'm thrilled with it -- and so grateful that readers seem to have figured out how this crazy series works.

JIM: Glad you liked the video!

WSTRIDGERUNNER: Hey, never thought about how libraries might use the videos. That's great! Thanks for telling me.

LORI: You don't know the half of it. Keeping track of three worlds is a very odd sort of experience. Very challenging. But also a lot of fun. I'm having a fabulous time. See you in D.C.!

DFENDER: The artist, Sang Han, who designed the Burning Lamp will be thrilled that you liked his work! This whole trilogy-within-a-series thing is, in part, designed to persuade a few more readers to cross over between my three names. Fingers crossed.

ChrisTina: The talented folks who created the video will be delighted with your positive feedback. Thanks so much. I, too, am thrilled with it.

KATE: An interview with all three of me? Aaargh! Good grief, woman, what do you want to do? Drive me totally bonkers? Sheesh.
But I'm thinking that an interview with Fallon Jones might be sort of cool....

LOU: Yes, Cissy and Paula are one heck of a video team, aren't they?

The video is great, Jayne: intriguing enough to attract new readers. Those of us who have already read any, let alone all, of the earlier books don't need any incentive to plead for more, needless to say!

So, are you using a spreadsheet programme to keep track of everything?

Love the video, I think it's really well done. I am a loyal historical fiction reader, but because it's you, I have made an exception to read your contemporary Arcane books. (Well played!) ;) I am looking forward to the new trilogy and trying your futuristic novels as well. Will there be any of those dust bunnies I keep hearing about?

CATHERINE: THanks and yes, I may give the Fallon interview some serious thought. Might make for an interesting blog....

JOAN: Series within series. Oh, my, what have I done?

ANNIE: Yeah, the music is cool, isn't it? Cissy found it. Wait until you hear the music she found for the next Harmony series video...

AGTIGRESS: A spreadsheet would be fantastic! Unfortunately, I haven't learned how to use that function on my computer. Guess I'm doomed to keep juggling. But, then, you've had some experience with that kind of thing, yourself, as I recal, heh, heh.

LOUIS: Glad you like it. I think Cissy and Paula caught just the right note.

KRIS B: I'm doing my best to make sure each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone. Hope it's working! Let me know when you go back to read the earlier books in Arcane.

SUNNY: Yes, indeed, there will be dust bunnies. I think fans of the series might hurt me if there weren't any bunnies in the books now.

CISSY: Well, an interview with Fallon Jones would certainly be tricky. You're right, getting him to be reasonably polite and well-mannered for twenty minutes would probably be expecting way too much.

DANI: Glad you like the dust bunnies. There's a new video featuring Vincent from my August 25 release, OBSIDIAN PREY in the works as we speak. Think: dust bunny in a painter's beret...

We said you were a super woman, not Superwoman. Seriously, great video, wonderful cross-genre series, and terrific fun with dust bunnies. How can any of us lose with you on our team?

Can't watch the video yet, 'cause I'm at work(I'm not mis behaving--it's just that My patient is asleep). I can't wait tho - I've loved them all so far. I don't need them to keep me hooked, but they sure are fun, and add a cool, enticing, dimension ( which, I must say, are "spot on" as to the feel and mental immages I get from your books) to those intreguing worlds you create, and I enter with glee. Was that a run-on sentance?..probably...ok, I'll stop.

    Hi Jayne,

Since the Arcane Society is going to cross over into the Harmony books, I think there should be a dust bunny in the Arcane Scoeity Museum Shop and that they will have an online ordering system for all of us with dust bunny envy!

A dust bunny in the museum shop!? How wonderful, make it happen!! :-)

Jaayne, I have a question for you please...I found these 3 books of the Arcan Society

    White Lies (2007)
    Sizzle and Burn (2007)
    Running Hot (2008)
...are these the only three not counting The Perfect Poision?? (I am trying to catch-up) before the new trilogy comes out.
