    NEWS FLASH–READING RELIEVES STRESS!

    Good Morning, my flowers:

Well, READING RELIEVES STRESS is not exactly news to most of us, but now I’m reading this information as if the rest of us haven’t been picking up books to “get away from it all” for just about as long as we can remember.

However, if there should be anyone who hasn’t realized the deeply beneficial results reading induces, now you know. Which brings me to my Court of Angels and the first book in the series, OUT OF BODY.

Neat segue, huh? Except that I believe there will be more than a few moments when the book produces more excitement than peace:) If I’m wrong, I haven’t done my job.

An even more blatant commercial here: If you are moved to pre-order the books from your favorite source, that would be great.

Special collector’s packets are available only through the book shops listed at www.purplepapayallc.com . For copies that I’ll sign for you, please use Seattle Mystery Bookshop, also listed at Purple Papaya or go directly to www.seattlemystery.com . They are happy to mail to any location.

Switching topics just a little. Wazoo and her “friend,” Nat Archer, want to take over the keyboard for an instant and I’m going to give in to them to get a little of that peace I mentioned.

Wazoo and Nat Archer here. We got two words for you, “WHO DAT!”

Stella back again. Okay, anyone know what that means?

Peace and regular excitement to all,

    Stella

Q: What is your favorite way of dealing with stress/tension/the blahs? I’m always looking for more techniques.

I believe that translates to "Who dat say gonna beat dem Saints?"

Two years ago, the answer would be "pretty much everyone" ;)

Tonight, however, it means SUPER BOWL CHAMPS, BABY!

LOL...I never watch sports but I actually watched tonight's game, and it was wonderful! And Stella, how else would I deal with stress other than with a good book? I'm actually reading my RITA entries--#5 tonight--and it's fantastic! You never know what you're going to get, but every single book I've read so far has been wonderful, and excellent for dealing with deadline stress. Hey, I'm judging a contest here--I HAVE to read these books! :-)

Kate, I'm reading my RITAS, too, but my results are a little more mixed than yours. I always love this, though, because I generally discover at least one new author.

To quote India Arie, "Paradise is in your mind."
Also, "It doesn't cost a thing to smile."

They are from her song "There's Hope".

Music, books, a cup of hot herbal tea, candles, or a good meal work for me right now. The list changes periodically; sometimes meditation helps. Exercise and sleep do too.

My favorite, though, is laughter and a smile. If my mind is clear and I can find peace in my mind, the rest of me relaxes and calms down too.

    Great post, Stella!

Stella, I sleep better when I'm reading. I don't know why, but if I stay up that extra hour with a book in hand, even when I stop at a compelling point in the story, I still sleep better. Reading sure works for me as a stress reliever!
Also, if I'm not into a book at the moment, going to the movies helps. I can totally unwind while eating popcorn and drinking a cola (something I don't do often) and just get into the enjoyment of even a mostly bad movie. LOL

Love your banner, btw! Very cool.

LOL, Stella, I must be the least stressed person in the world! I have read three novels in a day. I am the ultimate escapist in that I can read through my lunch half hour and go back to work with a smile on my face. I often don't know what I ate or even IF I ate. I always have a book, or three.

    Hi Wazoo!

    Thanks for the stress relief,

    Lynne Thomas

Stella - A book definitely helps me relax, even if it's a hair-raising part! Hot showers & my hot cup of coffee mixed w/ cappuccino help. These are not original. Taking my kids to do something fun is fun, but they don't always get along real well in the car. I also enjoy my nighttime walks. I live in a village on the lake neighborhood. The cats follow me & I love it!! Have a great day!! - Rebecca

Ha, well, I was just feeling quite stressed out and my answer was to pop over to RWQ and see what's going on!!

I'm so excited about this series, Stella, and the 'virtual signing' is a great idea...although I'd love to visit the Seattle Mystery Bookshop in person one of these days.

I like to pet my animals when I'm stressed. They love it, I love it and we're all happier and more relaxed by the time we've all had enough bonding time. One of my two new kittens is especially affectionate, prone to wanting to cuddle at the worst possible time. Of course, I make time when that happens, because he's just so sweet.

    lol @ WHO DAT
I've been seeing that everyone online.

Reading does relive stress for me, but so does playing pinball online. I like the games where I can either smash things or blow up things, like bubbles. lol

I also bead jewelry and that relives stress.

    Stress relief?
    - reading
    - writing (or is that stress inducing???)
    - watching/playing tennis
    - walking
    - watching hockey, volleyball, basketball... - bit of a sports nut here :)
    - baking
    - cooking

    Can't wait for the book!

And I thank your Kindle very much...

I envy you being able to play games. They make me nervous. Physical sports and exercise work for me but when I try to do something as simple as a game of solitaire, I feel freaky!

I did enjoy popping bubble wrap on someone's IPhone!

    Hey Jemi:

I have no worries about you dealing with stress! You probably don't have time to feel out of sorts.

Tennis is the best game to play.

Stress-relief for me is mostly music and a book, tension I can usually relieve very effectively by pouncing on my boyfriend (puts him in a good mood, too), and the blahs I cure by dancing, or going on a nice hike, YES, even when it rains. You just need boots and a stout stick. Dancing's my favorite, though, you just have to ignore that voice in your head that says 'what a dork you are' and go for it anyway; it shuts up soon enough.
Your books are perfect for that first one, though. :)

Shoshana: Sounds as if there's a lot of joy around you and I should think your boyfriend would be in a good mood when you pounce on him!

I love the rain. Try putting up an umbrella and resting the fabric on top of your head. The rain sounds like drumbeats:)
