    Valentine's Day plans, anyone?

    Photobucket

Hey, did I luck out or what!

For once I have a really good topic - Valentine's Day!

I also have a new book out, and it hit #7 on the New York Times. Yay. I'm super excited, so I don't really need any other Valentine's Day gift.

Saturday I'll take part in a multi-author booksigning where I'll get to visit with author friends, chat with reader friends, and later see a movie. Nothing too fancy for hubby and me.

    But what about you?
Do you like flowers for the most-romantic day?

I'm spoiled because Allen brings me flowers all the time, whether it's a special occasion or not. I like any flower that smells good! Favorites are hyacinth, roses, gardenias, and lilies!

Are chocolates more your thing? If so, what kind of chocolates?
I'm partial to caramels, or good old Hershey. Yes, I'm a simple gal with simple needs.
I also love chocolate cream pie, so in a pinch, that'll do.

Romantic dinners? Or do you have a favorite restaurant?

I really like Olive Garden. Yes, I know, not all that romantic or special, but see above about me being pretty simple. LOL

    Movie?
I'm DEFINITELY a movie gal, so guess what we'll be seeing for Valentine's Day!
    Are you ready?
WOLFMAN! Oh yeah, I can't wait! Benecio Del Torro makes an awesome wolfman. And with Anthony Hopkins in there, too, we can't miss!
    The previews look amazing.

Check out the movie site here:
    http://www.thewolfmanmovie.com/

I know, not overly romantic, but mega fun!

BTW, if jewelry is your thing, do you trust hubby to pick out something you'll love, or do you want in on the decision making?
Me, I want in! His tastes are not always my tastes, and really, if he gets it for you, you gotta wear it, right? When Allen wants to buy me jewelry, he usually sets up a lunch date out near the jewelry store, then tells me after we eat, "Let's go buy you something." :-) Gotta love the guy for knowing me so well.

So what about you? Any big plans? Memorable Valentine's Days past?
    Dish!

And Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Trying to lay off the chocolate but flowers and jewelry are sugar free! My hub proposed to me on Valentine's Day 21 years ago. We got married on March 1st one year later. My sister ran off and eloped two weeks before my wedding on Valentine's Day. I always felt like she "stole my thunder". She has always been a brat! ha

p.s. Congrats on Back in Black!

LOL You've got a gem, Lori! My dh and I argue over VD every year. After twenty years, you'd think one of us would give in. Nope. Not gonna happen. You see, when we were dating he did the flowers, candy, dinner thing. Once we were married? NADA. I say it was false advertising. I thought I was marrying a romantic guy. He says it's a made up holiday and doesn't matter. That guys shouldn't be forced into it. Heh. I say (he said/she said much?) it's the EFFORT that counts, not whether a gift is expensive or thoughtful. Just put a little effort into showing someone you love them. Let's face it, we all take those we love for granted on a daily basis.

As to your questions. I love flowers. I think it's because I never get them LOL

Hi Lori! I'll be at the signing tomorrow to socialize too, plus pick up Back in Black!!
DH and I go to a remote cabin once a year, but not Valentine's weekend. Like Alan, my husband is always surprising me with little treats. It's Valentine's all the time around our house.
I am actually doing an interview on Amy's Table on Q102 Sunday and hanging with my Dh and boys. Nothing special, but special to me!!

    Lovely plans, all!
Kay, I'd say it's false advertising too! I think you should start getting HIM very thoughtful, romantic gifts, and maybe it'll guilt him into it. LOL

Tami, she did steal your thunder! :-) Shame on her, but hey, you and hubs are still together so it didn't jinx anything, right? LOL

Tonya, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

    Hugs to all,

    Lori

We're planning to go see The Wolfman too!!! How funny is that??? I told a girlfriend and she looked at me like I was crazy. But my DH, popcorn, Anthony Hopkins and fright--doesn't get better!!!

My DH is getting better at jewelry-since I began to wear a lot of silver it is easier for him because he doesn't have to worry that he'll buy something mega-expensive and I won't like it. I'm collecting charms and he loves getting those-

Not having an SO, I tend to forget about Valentine's Day. My family isn't really into it either, so we don't do much for it. This year, though, Valentine's Day is on the same day as the first day of the Chinese New Year. I'll be spending the weekend celebrating that with my family, so we'll probably do something for Valentine's too.

Loved Back in Black. My Mom has it now - it's part of her TBR pile. Congrats on the #7 slot!

Janelle, I had planned to go to the 4:00 showing, and then I remembered that I have a chat/blog thing. Bleh. But I'll go to the later show. I usually avoid the evening shows because the theater gets crowded.
    Hope we BOTH enjoy it!

Jennifer, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. Yay! :-D
Chinese New Year works for a good reason to celebrate! Have fun.

Congrats, Lori! The book looks fantastic. Since we're going on vacation next week, no big Valentine's Day plans here. I like Olive Garden, too, but we don't have one near us -- I think the closest is about 90 miles.

Mine proposed on Valentine's Day 38 years ago and we were married three months later--did I mention neither one of us REALIZED it was Valentines Day at the time? LOL...we are probably two of the least romantic people around. Flowers are out (his allergies) chocolate is out (the eternal diet) and I don't wear enough jewelry to make it count, but I wouldn't trade this guy for anything. Not when he shows me every day of the year that he loves me, and he still makes me laugh--a lot.

And that NYTimes spot is well deserved--I LOVED Back in Black!

Lori, I *do* get him gifts. Nothing majorly expensive but things I think he might need or use. Heh. Men. Can't live with them and can't live without them! ;0) Valentine's Day aside, he's a really good guy so I think I"ll keep him.

    Congrats on the NYT!!!

Hi Lori - My DH is home for lunch right now & he is buried in tax returns. This is his busy time. He has been going to the office at 4A to work while it's quiet! We are having a little conversation about this right now. We bought valentines cards for the boys yest. & they made their boxes last night. They look like girls' boxes, but that's what happens when mom & the older sister help. Anyway, my hubby says I didn't act like I was interested in the silk roses yest. at the store. If I had known he was actually thinking about a Valentines gift, I would have jumped on it. We lament every year that our birthdays fall during his busiest time. I just had mine & his is next month. Now he is talking about getting some real flowers since he likes those better. We do think Olive Garden is romantic. My husband helps me in so many ways around the house & we do enjoy each others company. We have been married for 14 yrs. now. Have fun at the booksigning tomorrow!!

Lori, Congratulations on the NYT--You GO girl! Haven't gotten the chance to read it yet but I'm almost through my RITA books, and that cover is taunting me from the top of the pile.

No Valentines Day for me this year--the soul mate is out of the country; way out, as in email only communication out. We're sporadic about how we celebrate it, anyhow. Sometimes gifts are involved, most times food (as in dinner out) is involved. Sometimes we just snuggle in.

And I'm witcha on the wanting in on the jewelry selection--although i loved the little diamond studs he bought me one year. They were a mega surprise that sent me to the piercer for an extra set of holes in my ears so I could wear them all the time.

Susan, I'm so sorry the dh is out of town and out of reach. That has to be difficult ANY time of the year!
    Diamond studs sounds lovely!

Elizabeth, THANK YOU! :-D Twice. LOL

Rebecca, my husband is the same way. We've always had a partnership. If one of us is working - dishes, cooking, yard work, whatever - then we're both working. We enjoy sitting down together when we're done!
This June, we'll have been married 32 years. :-)

We've never really celebrated Valentines day. My hubby's not romantic and he keeps telling me that he told me that when we first met so I knew what I was getting myself into. lol

So I bought myself a box of chocolates and am going to order G-Force on pay per view, and watch that.

I like Mary's idea - if I want chocolates, I'll have to buy them myself :) Caramel it is!!

A friend of mine went out to karaoke last night with her guy of 3 years. She had on jeans, a hoodie and a ball cap. He popped the Q and her first words were, "Oh my god, I'm not dressed for this!"

Of course she accepted. He told her he was going to wait for Valentine's Day, but she just looked so cute he couldn't wait.

    Happy V Day everybody.

Thanks Jayne. I will never take list placement for granted - but I wish I could. It's way too stressful waiting for news on that stuff. :-)

Everyone, I've got a booksigning today, so I'll be out and about most afternoon.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Fabulous NYT news, Lori. Congratulations!

I never discuss Valentine's Day with Jerry ahead of time. I get a kind of pleasure out of waiting to see what he does and managing to come up with something unexpected for him.

No chocolate here (it hates me) Flowers are lovely and if they happen to be in the form of a plant I can meddle with for a while, so much the better.

Enjoyed all the posts. Shows how different people are. Just hope no one gets sad about the lack of some do dah for V Day--if it doesn't come naturally, revenge is in order.

    Stella:)
BACK IN BLACK is on the pile, Lori and I'm looking forward to a great read. You never disappoint.

Hi Everyone - I have a new plant. My husband had a nephew pick it up while he was getting one for his wife. I would love to let Stella take care of it. My mom is much more into the green thumb thing than I am, but I am happy to have some pretty little flowers to look at from my husband!!

    Hi Lori,
Congrats for hitting #7 on NY Times!!!
As for Valentines, I'm not a flower person. This year hubby gave me a great Valentine's Day surprise, he painted my Studio!!! yipee! It took him 2 days and he said that the hardest part was keeping it from me. I did not know about it until he was done.
Last night we saw Wolfman, how did you find it?
Tomorrow we plan to see Valentine's Day on Valentine's Day =). Hubby's still reading the Lightning Theif so when he's done we plan to see it as well.
    Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Didn't you tell me that your hubby is truly excellent at picking out jewelry? :-) I think that's why you leave him to his own devices! LOL

Rebecca, I LOVE plants. I have oodles of them around the house, but none that flower. I save that for outside. I can't wait for spring when things start budding and blooming.

    Happy Valentine's Day all!

Hey Pia, that IS a great gift! Was it a color you choose or that he just knew you'd like?

I was disappointed in Wolfman. I was hoping it'd be scary and instead it just seemed very corny to me. But oh well.

I'm hoping to take my grandson to see Lightning Thief. :-)

    Happy Valentine's Day all!

    Hi Lori,

I too was disappointed with Wolfman. Have you seen Day Breakers? That was well made.
I just downloaded Back in Black, will be reading it this week.
    Thanks! =)

    Hey Pia,
Yep, I saw Daybreakers and thought it was better.
Yesterday I took my grandson to see "Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief," and we LOVED it. It was loads of fun. It might not compare to the book - because movies seldom do - but we hadn't read the book, so we really enjoyed it.

Hope you like, "Back in Black!"
    Thanks,

    Lori
