    JAYNE gets IN TOO DEEP

Wow, where did this year go? Thanksgiving coming up this week and then it's December and then it's 2011! A new year means a new book for me. And this year that book is IN TOO DEEP, the first book in the Looking Glass Trilogy. For those who follow me into my various Arcane worlds, this is Fallon's book.
I'll be doing only one signing for this book, that will be at Seattle Mystery Bookshop at noon on Tuesday, December 28th. If you'd like a signed copy (and a Collector's Packet) and you can't attend the event, you can reserve both by contacting the store at staff@seattlemystery.com or Phone: (206) 587-5737. They do a great job with mail orders and they'll be happy to send you a Collector's Packet as well. It works like this: I'll sign — and personalize if you wish — your copy while I'm in the store that Tuesday. Afterward, the friendly staff will mail the book and packet to you. Makes a great gift!
By the way, this year the special Collector's Packet includes a Jones & Jones pen. If you want to reserve a book with a packet check this list to see if there is a participating bookstore near you.
If there is no participating store near you or if you buy your books at another store or in electronic form, you can order a Collector's Packet by sending your receipt for the purchase of In Too Deep along with your name and address to:
    Purple Papaya
    IN TOO DEEP Packets
    P.O. Box 620613
    Woodside, CA 94062
Now, here's your first look at Fallon from IN TOO DEEP.
Fallon picked up midway through the first ring.
"What the hell is wrong?" he asked. "I knew I shouldn't have let your drive out there in this weather."
    "I need backup," Isabella said.
"Huh. Don't tell me you found a real ghost."
"There's something in this house that needs to be found," Isabella said. "Not sure what, yet, but I don't think it's going to be anything good."
"What makes you say that?" Fallon asked.
    "There's a basement involved."
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
    Sincerely,
    Jayne

Where did this year go, Jayne? It seems like we are all racing through each day, and suddenly, the year is done. One of the rewards of this is your new book. This time it's Fallon's story. I look forward to reading it the minute I can download it. Thanks for the excitement and pleasure your books bring to your readers.

LYNNE: They do say that the older we get the faster time goes by -- just as we're learning to appreciate the real value of time, dad-gum it!

SUSAN: This has been an especially hectic year for you, I know. Looking forward to seeing you at the tea!

KRIS B: Congratulations on that grandson and be sure to enjoy every second of his growing up that you can grab. Turns out all the research studies say that children with grandparents who are active in their lives when said kids are very young are more likely to do well in life. You have an important role to play.

You are such a tease! LOL. Great tiny peek at the book. ;-)

The packet sounds amazing! I'm sure readers will flip over it.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

Yay for Fallon's story! I've been waiting for him to do something other than talking to the J&J agents over the phone, a kind of Charlie without even a Bosley as a go-between. Plus, I'm really looking forward to finding out (ever since the twitter story) what kind of woman Isabella is, to keep Fallon in check.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Jayne, I'm eagerly awaiting In Too Deep... but, I plan on getting the e-book version for my nook. Can I qualify for the collectors packet? Or is it just for your hard-copy fans?

Sheree: I hope you like Isabella. I think she is the one woman who can really understand Fallon...

KATIEBIRD: Rest assured the packets (and that J&J pen!) are available to everyone, regardless of the format you purchase. Just send a copy of your receipt to Purple Papaya. The address is in the blog. Thanks!

Can't wait for your new book to come out. Anything Arcane is on my "gotta buy it" list. I think one of us (aunt, mom, or me) is buying it for our shared Kindle subscription so we can all enjoy it.
Not hosting Thanksgiving, but visiting with family - this year is a brunch and then an early dinner at my aunt's house.

Thank you for the response, Jayne! I'll send in my email confirmation since that's all the receipt I get from those eBook/Nook purchases.

(Seconding the enthusiasm for Arcane books .... I LOVE them & am especially looking forward to Fallon's book)

Oh, good timing. My grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary is coming up here and they're both fans of yours. This really will be the perfect gift, although I think I'll see if I can't print out Fallon Jone's twitter story for them, first. Grandma was a pioneer in the atmospheric optics field but when she retired she said the best part was not having to deal with all that new technology!
Er, CAN I print the twitter story or is that a copyright violation?

    Blogger Jayne Ann Krentz said...

SUE G: Hope you enjoy it and Happy Thanksgiving to you, too.

SHOSHANA: You're welcome to print out the twitter story. I did it once on this end and it worked okay. Good luck! And please give your grandparents my best wishes on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary! That's so impressive!

    Happy Thanksgiving, Jayne!!
Looking forward to Fallon's story, and am enjoying the tweets in the meantime -- although my Reality-O-Meter pings every now and then. I'm sure it will all come right if you can just get me Fallon's autograph while you're there...

Here's a plug for Seattle Mystery Bookshop: they're fast, they're good, and they're really really friendly. I'm ordering my copy today!

    Take good care!!

CHRIS TINA: What can I say? An imaginary research trip in an imaginary town AND and actual Fallon sighting! I'm having a good time there in Scargill Cove.

And you're absolutely right about Seattle Mystery Bookshop. They do a fabulous job on mail orders.

Great news, I am so looking forward to Fallon's story! He has intrigued me enough over the years. I was very happy to receive Shield's Lady in the mail today. So glad it is re-issued. Will there be more new-old books?

And I do have a question for you. I know most authors have little say over the covers or the blurbs, but how about the title of the book? I just am curious, because I already have 2 books named In too deep. Do you research the title, or just choose what goes best with the story?

    11:38 AM
    Blogger Jayne Ann Krentz said...

Aurian: Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. Didn't see it until now. The answer is that it seems like every good title in the world has been used up! So authors and editors tend to go with what sounds right for the book. You can drive yourself nuts trying to come up with a title that has never been used.

Plan to publish in the Hungarian language? I looked at the top webshopokat (www.konyv-konyvek.hu), but there can not be obtained. And if you do not have on this site is nowhere to be found.
